- The smell of freshly cut grass on a hot day.
- The heat from the sun on my skin.
- Ice cold drinks taste so much better.
- Waking up to the sun pushing it’s way into the bedroom.
- The breeze through the window.
- The breeze through light clothing.
- The birds sound all the more melodious.
- The smell of chargrilled barbeques.
- Long evenings.
- The sound of ice cream van melodies.
- Everyone makes more of an effort to wear nicer, brighter, more colourful clothes.
- Seeing people just sitting outside looking relaxed for a change.
- Everyone looks ‘cooler’ than usual with trilby hats, sunglasses etc…
- Eating way more fruit and salad than usual.
- People going off on the holidays while I make my winter getaway plans.
- The ‘sales’ if I’ve got the time and patience to rummage.
- Dresses that blow behind you in the breeze as you walk.
- Wearing bright orange without looking ‘tango-ed’.
- Day trips.
- Straw bags.
- Pegging the washing out.
- Eating outdoors.
- Music sounds better.
- Everyone looks happier.
- Buying more flip flops.
- A good thunderstorm!
Summertime Dislikes:
- Being stuck in the office
- Not enough fans in the office
- The occasional sneezing fit
- Spending more than usual on clothes (the sun does this to me!)
- Everywhere is busier when the sun’s out (shopping/queues etc)
- Wasps
- Being stuck in traffic
- Being stuck on public transport
- When the supermarket ice-cream/ice lolly shelves are empty

Is this competition still open? It seems odd asking a question about summer if the deadline is October.
Things I’m looking forward to NEXT summer – longer days, warmer weather, BBQs and holidays!
Cherryl
Firstly, if you notice, you will see that the competition began on 29 August 2016 (check the tweet date), it also states the competition end date, which was 30 September 2016. You will also find, that British summertime does not officially end until 30 October, at which point, the clocks change. Furthermore, as we approach the end of summer, it’s quite a nice time to reflect on what you have enjoyed about it, in retrospect! Nothing odd about that – thanks for taking the time out to make a comment all the same, and have a great weekend!

I like wearing my brighter, lighter summer clothes. I like being out in the sun and feeling hot but I don’t like it when it’s too humid. I like summer holidays, more time off work, no school run and our family holiday.
