Fancy A Cuppa?

Get the kettle on then, grab those biscuits and get comfy, it’s time for another random chat.

Tea

The tea I’m drinking is from a decorative box of Sri Lankan tea that someone brought back for me as a gift from their holiday there, before the Easter massacre in Sri Lanka, thankfully.

There have been many incidents like this all over the world, this isn’t the first of it’s kind but I’m glad I haven’t become numb to them.

People were just trying to get on with their day to day Sri Lankan lives, minding their own business, enjoying positive and uplifting Easter celebrations, never dreaming of hurting anyone – and tourists enjoying a well earned break no doubt, before their lives were taken, torn apart and traumatised.

I feel very sad for all those directly affected.

Thank God there are still good people in the world, united against hate 🙏

On a lighter note……a bit of ballet?

A few weeks ago I watched a Ballet Black world premiere performance, and what a fantastic performance it was.

When I went to see The Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House a year ago, I was mesmerised by it, such a beautiful production, the graceful moves, poise and incredible physical strength of those dainty doll-like bodies was all very impressive.

I stumbled across Ballet Black while looking to see what other ballet performances were coming up this year – just curious! I’d never heard of Ballet Black, even though they’ve been going for the past eighteen years, showcasing and celebrating ballet talent of black and asian descent.

It wasn’t quite what I was expecting to be honest, not a tutu in sight (but then I haven’t really seen many ballet performances). This was more of an art form than a ‘princessy ballerina’ type of thing.

The show was quirky as well as conveying aspects of African history through African dance. Some of the dance didn’t appear to be ballet at first glance, not until you looked down at the dancers’ feet.

and on a somewhat bizarre note: the Sahara is on the move!

Well according to news reports recently, we’ve been getting a settling of dust in the UK, traveling through the air, all the way from the Sahara desert. Apparently it’s been creating ‘blood rain’  – creating red rain drops  – crikey!!

I had a lovely Sahara experience this year…but I didn’t think it would follow me home!!

A message to the Sahara: “You can keep your dust (we’ve got enough of that thanks) but feel free to send some of your sunny daytime temperatures our way, we’re usually lacking in that department” 🔆🐫
