Snapshots of Tobago, The Quiet Caribbean.

Tobago is a small quiet Caribbean island, physically separate from Trinidad, but part of the same country – Trinidad and Tobago, where calypso and the steel drums began.

I read somewhere that Trinidad and Tobago is good for mud spas – I didn’t really come across this but I can confirm that Tobago is an ideal island for relaxation, bird watching, rainforest hiking and beach lounging.

At certain times of the year, in line with breeding cycles, turtle watching becomes a major attraction in Tobago.

Flea Market

If you blink you miss it!!
The flea market is pretty much hidden in plain sight, busy in the night and bursting with goods for sale – from DVDs, clothes, shoes and other random bits.
It’s open until 11pm so shopperholics needn’t feel deprived after dark!
Not sure if this is quite bright enough!!

A rainforest trek

Boots are supplied on the rain forest hike – and you can see why!!

A lot of the island is covered with protected rainforests and there are guided treks available for all levels of fitness; and if I’m not mistaken, they are the world’s oldest protected rainforests.
