Dear Mauritius

Dear Mauritius

I had anticipated meeting you for a very long time, your beaches, cuisine and tropical beauty.

I am truly grateful to have had that pleasure – you were just as beautiful as your pictures, no filters needed, you did not disappoint.

I was mesmerised by your ebony forests, those trees take so long to grow yet you have an abundance of them, despite their scarcity, that’s something to be treasured.

Your botanical gardens were a sight for sore eyes, I was tempted to jump onto one of your giant lilly pads and hop across them one by one – but I know that would have gone terribly wrong!!

The warmth of your indian ocean was a blissful treat, and don’t get me started on Ile Aux Cerfs – I’m still dreaming about it.

Like a good host, you made me feel welcome, you took good care of me and showed generous hospitality.

Thank you Mauritius, for giving me a warm sunny end to the year x

  1. Kathy Gossett @kathystriptips – My passion for travel stems from my dad driving us all over the country each year, in a Winnebago, for family vacations. Those trips, for me, were always an experience that I love to recall today. As I got older, I did quite a bit of traveling in my car. Never satisfied to stay in one place, I've lived from one coast to the other and back in this beautiful country of ours, and I still see places and things right in my own backyard that amaze me. There is so much to be learned from travel. So many "Experiences". So many places that are so surreal as to hold a special place in my memories. Then, at age 42, I went to Everest College to become a certified travel agent. My first job was in corporate travel and for me, it was very exciting to be the person who could fix the travelers issues. I decided that the second half of my life will be spent helping other people to discover the world outside their door, and all the beauty and wonder that it holds. Thus, 1 of a Kind Vacations and Kathy’s Trip Tips was born.
