Cuppa? Birds, Bargains and Other Things

Kettle on, time for another cuppa, grab the biscuits….and put your feet up for a quick chat about whatever!

Brushed off

Birdseed. I managed to shower myself with birdseed the other day while looking at a display bird feeder in a shop, filled with tiny seeds and grains. I think I literally froze for a few seconds when it happened. It sprayed all over the floor, all over me, all down my boots and goodness knows where else. No birds came near me when I left the shop so I must have managed to brush it all off. 😏

Oblivious to the drama, the birds out the back are ever grateful for the food, especially the ‘fat balls’.

Bagged

Some bargains for next Christmas. Honestly, January is a great time to pick up Christmas cards, decorations and bits and bobs for next Christmas, if you’re bothered about that sort of thing and can be bothered to go looking.Β  I don’t blame you if you don’t though. Some people are pros at this type of thing, like the woman who had already bought and wrapped next years’ gifts before the new year had even come in!! I bet she needed more than a cuppa after that.

I wouldn’t go as far as wrapping Christmas gifts a year ahead, I might change my mind about what to give someone nearer the time.

Bits I grabbed recently include some of those nice individual Clinton’s Christmas cards that retail for over Β£5 but were going for 99p each, and these ‘matchbox games’, are interactive cards to get your guests going, great for stirring up the dinner table banter and/or great as little gifts any time of the year.

Each pack was originally Β£4.49 each and I got them for Β£1.34 each. πŸ’«

Endured

More train ride delights. πŸš†

Imagine – your carriage reeks of piping hot McDonalds and your reserved seat is across the cosily narrow aisle from the guy devouring the Mcdonalds, with literal dolby sound effects and lots of fingers being aggressively licked.

Could it get any worse? Yes. This particular day you decided not to bring any head/earphones, you never normally commute without them but for some reason you left them behind this time.

Both sound and smell had to be endured in equal measure.

Thankfully he worked speedily through the fries before slamming his hat down on the seat beside him and ‘going in’ for the burger. Right at that moment the train driver makes a cheerful introduction with “good morning ladies and gentlemen”. It was 7.08pm.

Overindulged

On the subject of food. I may have gone a bit overboard on some almond and caramel popcorn – so sweet!!Β  πŸ™Š

Conquered πŸ†

The mountain of shredding that has been building up in refuse sacks for longer than I care to mention. Anyway it’s pretty much all done now, and once again I’m vowing never to let it pile up that much again. Little and often is the way!

Right then, tea’s getting cold now, off to get a top up and some lunch.

Wishing you a great week….πŸ”†πŸ’«πŸ€— until our next cuppa.

I often get bird seed showers from the apartment the floor above mine. In our ground floor apartment, we have patio doors and we use them when the weather is fine and it’s not muddy underfoot. It was also great during the first Covid lockdown to have an alternative route to exit our building, although we’re less stressed about that sort of thing now. Now the muddy footprints on the carpet seem to have regained their position of importance! πŸ˜‰
