Quick Brew? Auctioning my Sunglasses and other things!

Let’s have another quick brew.

Make mine a berry tea with a juiced lime this time!

I know it only seems like 5 mins ago since we were talking about dogs and Greggs over our last cuppa, but you can never drink too much tea can you!!

Ok, so what now….

Spotted

These coasters. Certainly a bit different. ๐Ÿค”

Loo awards…that’s a new one!! Is there an awards ceremony like the Baftas/Oscars?? Spotted in Kings Cross train station! Congratulations to Kings Cross ๐Ÿ†

Bagged

Maybe not to everyone’s taste I know. But I love it!!! Not sure what I’m going to do with it yet…so many potential uses!!! It’s ornamental value alone screamed ‘SOLD’ at a pop up Sunday market. It’s very heavy cast iron and could also look lovely spray painted. Priced at ยฃ30 bagged it for ยฃ20.

Can we buy your sunglasses?

I was looking at bits in H&M Home – since they have some dedicated shops nowadays. Anyway I noticed a couple looking at me as they stood looking at some kitchen things. The woman asked where I got my sunglasses – she really liked them and asked how much they cost. I told her.

Woman: “Can I pay you ยฃ10 more ‘on top’ for them”

I explained I didn’t want to sell them. I can’t be the only one who knows it’s not easy finding sunglasses that you really really like so I’m keeping them. They’re priceless now.

Man: How about we give you an extra ยฃ15 for them.

Me (thinking): Wow!!!! It’s a bidding war. Ebay personified.

Could this be the shape of things to come? If you like someone’s jacket just go up to them in public and make an offer there and then, with your phone ready to send a Paypal payment, or cash in hand. People do it with houses – so maybe it could catch on!

Anyway, the answer was still a very polite no.

Getting Rid

I never want to wear them, doubt I’ll ever wear them again and don’t even like them that much really. Then I think, oh but what if one day it’s just what I need! Enough of this – if they’re ‘on reserve’ they’re going on the ‘get rid’ pile. I’ve never thrown anything out and then missed it, so I’ll keep going. Too many clothes taking up space and never being worn is like a weird kind of clothes OCD. Time to clear some space and pass things onto someone who really wants them.

The spare room full of ‘yet to be sorted out’ ย just keeps on giving!

Blogging Patterns

I’m not one of those bloggers who feels compelled to post routinely. I used to aim for a minimum of one post per week, which is still my rough average. Sometimes less is more, and sometimes I’m just busy. Other times, I might be on a roll, or in the vein of blogger Tim Hall – sometimes I might blog simply because I feel like it, that’s it.

Blogging isn’t a full time job for me, it’s just a leisurely hobby so there’s no pressure.

Anway, I hope you enjoyed this quick brew, tea’s getting a bit cold and I need to nip out so until the next one…..take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend. ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ”†

Loved this. I’d have sold the glasses – but I’ve never actually owrn sunglasses so I dont know. Id paint the cake stand a shocking pink and use it to store all my brooches and earrings.
Blogging. i have enough matrial for everyday – but I dont often feel like it. so sometimes two a day and sometimes one a month. I write to amuse myself and occasionally some friends. no pressure at all- I don’t understand why there should be, but I notice that a lot of people put themselves under this sort of pressure.

My Mum is moving to the US and just offered me a pretty Shelley cup & saucer – so I’ll soon be drinking my tea out of that and feeling oh so fancy ๐Ÿ˜€ I have a pretty one myself, but it has a scalloped edge so is not that comfortable to drink from, so I’m really rather chuffed.

How weird to have people trying to buy the sunglasses off your face. Are they fancy ones?

How funny about wanting to buy your sunglasses from you. I think I might have been tempted to take the money (I sound like that old game show, ‘Take your pick’, where they asked, “Take the money or open the box!” I thought it was Hughie Green, but I just googled it and found it was someone called Michael Miles (I’d never have remembered that name). There’s a bit of useless information for you ๐Ÿคช. I’ve never found a pair of sunglasses that I really liked. My optician has put UV filters in my daily glasses, which should protect my eyes a bit, especially the growing cataracts! That makes me feel old when I’m not!

I love the coasters. I’d have a job to pick one as they’re all funny in their own way. I love the cake display stand even more. I think that’s what it is, isn’t it? You get them in quaint tea shops with dainty finger sandwiches and posh cakes on them. It’ll look amazing when it’s spray-painted. What colour would you do?

I agree with your ‘Getting Rid’ paragraph. I had to clear out stacks of stuff from what was the junk room to make into a spare bedroom for my son and grandchildren when they come and stay. I had to be really ruthless. I need to take a leaf out of your book and make a start on my clothes. I’ve got far too many tee shirts, and I never wear them all anyway. I’m odd like that; I never wear my favourite tops, trousers, jumpers etc. as I’m keeping them for a special occasion, except that the special occasion hasn’t arisen yet! You can bet your life if I get rid of them; an event will materialise out of nowhere! Just my luck.

Blogging is another matter. As you know, I put myself under too much pressure to read, comment and often write. I really should learn to chill and not get myself all worked up about it. One day … Xx ๐Ÿฆข๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ˜˜

Lol, yes all that was needed was an audience shouting ‘take the money’๐Ÿ˜…
Not sure what colour I’d spray the stand – would depend on where I put it and what I’d be using it for. At the moment I think I’ll just leave it alone, the rustic look is working for me. โœจ
Being ruthless with clothes is a must, but keep some of those occasion items if you think you’d wear them. It’s much harder to find that sort of thing last minute and stressful if you can’t find anything you like in the shops. I usually find things I like when I’m not really looking/don’t really need them – but if there’s an event to go to next week, I probably won’t find anything I like in the shops – sod’s law.๐Ÿ™ƒ
      Have a good week x๐Ÿ˜Š

I just this morning noticed how many of my summer tops I did NOT wear this year. It hasn’t been really what I call ‘hot’ here in Nova Scotia. We have had a few warmer-than-usual days, but I opted for some cool sundresses then. I am not a clothes collector, but definitely have a decent variety of sleeveless tops for the warm weather. I was just wondering if I had too many. But I will soon be tucking them away until next year, as I can feel the season already beginning to change. It felt very ‘autumn-like’ yesterday on my walk. Beautiful, sunny, and crisp. The good part of the year is coming. YAY!

Re: blogging . . . I try for one a week. Sometimes it works, sometimes it is just a lot of talk about nothing. I don’t know if filling in on the weeks that I am working on things is good or not. It seems when I am busiest, there is less time to write. I guess for me it is trial and error. I always enjoy reading your posts and observations.

Hang on to those glasses. ๐Ÿ˜€
