Black River Jamaica Safari Cruise: Crocodile Spotting in St Elizabeth

Black River Jamaica…what’s that you ask.

If you’re stuck for something to do on your Jamaica holiday after wearing the beaches thin and soaking up the sun – you might want to add one of these cruises to your list.

Black River in St Elizabeth is one of the longest rivers in Jamaica and very popular for close up crocodile sightings and feeding.

Just board the boat and have your camera ready!

Black River and the YS River are linked, so both can be visited easily on the same day – your hotel will probably offer an organised tour if you prefer to do it that way.

It is common to mistake crocodiles and alligators. The easiest way to distinguish the two is to pay attention to their jaws as they are shut. Crocodiles will have their teeth visible, while alligators’ teeth are not visible when their jaws are shut.

Crocodiles also have a v-shape jaw, as opposed to the u-shape found in alligators. Crocodiles are also much larger, and have a beefier stance than alligators. Source
