If all Derby’s shops, and riverside musings aren’t enough for you, then a visit to Derby Cathedral might just add a little extra something to your wanderings. Here’s a bit of a montage of pictures, but I’m sure you’ll agree that the photos never really compare to being physically present in a building like this and feeling it’s size and grandeur!
After a hearty breakfast, a visit to the Cathedral didn’t disappoint, if mobility is strained then it’s a bit of an uphill walk in the Cathedral Quarter region of the city centre, with lots of pubs and restaurants lining the way.

Fuel for the day!

If you like, you can climb the cathedral stairs to the top of the church tower and enjoy the views!

Derby is my local cathedral. I’ve never been particularly impressed by it, but your photos have persuaded me to think again!

Thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures, Cherryl. Impressive organ! Did you get to hear it played?
Cherryl
Thanks π
Unfortunately, no, there wasn’t a church service or anyone practicing, but I’m sure it sounds pretty powerful!

This is so, SO beautiful. I love all the natural light.

I love the lighter colour scheme – so unusual – it really makes it sing.
Cherryl
Yes, it is quite light, a lot of churches tend to feel darker, and the chandeliers were a nice touch too.β¨
